Evgen Bavčar, the pioneering blind photographer is one of the recipients of this year’s European Citizen’s Prize. The announcement describes Bavčar as having made a “unique and rich contribution to art and literature that transcends boundaries.” Bavčar, 69, has been blind since age 11 but has nevertheless made a career as a photographer. He first premiered with his highly acclaimed exhibition “Black Squares On Our White Nights.” Evgen Bavčar is based in Paris and has also written several books on his experiences as a blind photographer.
